listed here, please email the Board staff so the question can be added
for the benefit of others. Thank you!
Q: Does Florida reciprocate with other states?
A: No, Florida offers licensure by examination only.
Q: How often is the examination given?
A: Twice a year; May & November.
Q: What is the deadline to apply?
A: March 1 for May exam and September 1 for November
exam.
Q: I have just graduated from Chiropractic school and
moved to Florida, what can I do?
A: The only function that can be performed in a
chiropractic office are clerical duties. You may apply for a certified
chiropractic physicians assistant license. The application may be found
in your chiropractic application booklet, or you can download
the application. Please read all instructions regarding this
application. A certified chiropractic physicians assistant may NOT
perform manipulations or adjustments, or take x-rays, unless properly
certified to do so.
Q: Can I fax my change of address to you or may I
leave my change of address on your voice mail or can you take a change
of address over the phone?
A: We can accept changes of address by fax, but not by
voicemail message or by telephone. Florida law requires all licensee’s
to submit their change of address to this department in writing. The
address is: Department of Health, Medical Quality Assurance Division,
4052 Bald Cypress Way, Bin C01, Tallahassee, FL 32399-3251, Fax number
(850) 487-9626. Include your name, license number, old and new address.
Mailing and physical practice location are required.
Q: Since the law changed on May 30, 1997 which
eliminated the separate testing for physiotherapy, phlebotomy and
proprietary drugs, will I be tested in these areas on the basic
licensure examination?
A: NO, not all chiropractic colleges require these
subject areas (it is an elective); therefore, we cannot test you on
something that is not required. Update: as of the 5/98 exam, there are
at least 2 questions regarding physiotherapy on the basic exam.
Q: Do I need to do anything to document my training
in these areas so that I can utilize these modalities in my practice
under my basic license to practice chiropractic?
A: The board office does not require documentation of
this training. If you are questioned by an insurance company or any
other entity, it would be the licensee’s responsibility to document the
training in these areas. (Chapter 460.403, F.S. states that a licensed
chiropractic physician may use any other general method of examination
for diagnosis and analysis taught in any school of chiropractic.)
