Board Specialties
The Board of Osteopathic Medicine Rule 64B15-14.001(2)(h), F.A.C., provides guidelines on training and requirements for stating who can claim to be a specialists and/or claim to be certified. D.O.'s can only identify themselves as specialists if they have completed an AOA or ACGME postgraduate training program and can only claim they are "certified" if they are certified by one of the following recognizing agencies that meet the criteria outlined in the Board's rule:

  • American Board of Medical Specialties
  • American Osteopathic Association - Bureau of Osteopathic Specialties & Board Certification
  • American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc.

Is your health care practitioner licensed? You may use our  License Verification Screen to search. The best results often occur when the system receives the least amount of information. Some techniques include only providing the county where the practitioner is located or the last name or the first letter of his name, or  select a profession. If licensee is one of our profiled professions, there will be a link at the upper right portion of the screen that says "Link to Practitioner Profile." This will take you to practitioner reported information about their  education, specialty certification, etc.
